I agree with Brandi
The Horizontal layout uses dirctional forces that lead you to what needs to be said, with a vertical layout everything is stacked on top of eachother like a book and lets face it we didnt get into design just to read books.

A very valid point Brandi! Thanks!

We intend to do exactly as you have suggested as we develop materials for the school across all media. If you would like to be part of that process we'd love to hear from you and have your help.

Thanks again for sharing your perspective...it's essential that we hear from students like you.

I think this as the best approach. Though it might be best to make the students in the pictures talk about their experience, rather then it seeming like other people are expressing the experience.

Contemporary marketing specialists now stress the value of informational exchange through conversations, establishing a dialogue and a value/benefit for each party. Old style push marketing no longer works. People are either immune to this interruptive approach and/or simply tuning it out. They want information on their terms. That's why we are developing student, faculty, administrator and staff-based perspectives in a conversational presentation for our approaches across all media.

The concept of KV talking “with” students, rather than “at them” was a key finding that came out of the original Lipman Hearne research. They found, and we confirmed, through informal focus research of our own, that students consistently cited instructor approachability and commitment to their success as a key factor in their appreciation of the school.

We conducted extensive research to help us evaluate the effectiveness of traditional college, community college and university visual materials. In a concerted effort to enable Kalamazoo Valley to stand out in a very competitive and crowded educational market, we opted to work with close-up, portrait style, black and white imagery and unusual angles working with actual Valley students. Notice how we've captured these students...talking with you about their KV experiences, from their perspectives.
